What is a bagel board
A bagel breakfast board is a buffet style or “serve yourself” type of breakfast, where bagels and toppings are served together on a large platter or board.
The meal can be shared between several people, and allows everyone to assemble their own bagels with their preferred toppings.
This is a fun way to prepare bagels for breakfast! It encourages people to enjoy their meal together at the table. It's the perfect choice for family brunches, and especially for Christmas breakfast, Mother's Day brunch, or any other occasion.

Instructions

Toast the bagels if you wish. Cut them in half, and place them on your chosen board or plate.
Prepare any toppings that require cooking, such as bacon and eggs. Toppings such as meat and vegetables should be sliced or chopped into a size that makes them easy to serve. For example, slice tomatoes and cucumbers instead of serving them whole.
Then, place the toppings onto the board. Any small items like nuts can be placed in bowls if you want, and the same goes for spreads.
If you want to prevent certain ingredients from touching each other, you can use vegetables, herbs or bowls to create small walls between for example meat and fruit.
Use fresh herbs and pieces of fruit to create pops of color around the board. You can fold sliced meat or vegetables, or place berries in different shapes to make the board extra appetizing. For example, roll up ham or salami, or make an avocado rose.
The bagel charcuterie board will look nicer if it's really full, so make sure that you use a board of the correct size.

Top tips
- Try to use ingredients with a variety of color. That will make your bagel board look a lot more appetizing.
- Make sure to only use toppings you will actually eat!
- Try to spread ingredients of a similar color around the board. For example, if you have multiple red toppings, place them in different locations instead of grouping them together.
- Use bowls or small plates to keep certain ingredients like spreads, berries, nuts, or cheese balls in place.
Storage
The bagel board is best served immediately, as most of the toppings and ingredients taste best fresh.
You can store any leftover ingredients separately, and make certain items ahead, like the cream cheese, bagels and spreads.
Frequently asked questions
You can use a wooden chopping board, a serving plate, a serving tray, or even a large dinner plate. It depends on how many people you're preparing it for! If you're making bagels for a large crowd, you can even place the toppings on a large, clean table.
Absolutely! You can make a fantastic vegetarian board using vegetables, fruit, berries, chocolate, peanut butter, and vegetarian spreads. You can also add egg and cheese if you want.
