    🥘 Ingredients

To make banana chips, you simply need one ingredient: bananas!

Choose ripe, yellow bananas. If you want really sweet banana chips, you can use bananas that have started to develop spots. These will have a stronger natural sweetness. Keep in mind that these bananas might also be softer and keep more moisture, which means they might take slightly longer to bake.

    🔪 Instructions

Peel the bananas and cut them into thin discs. The thinner you cut them, the faster they dry out in the oven. Aim to cut them in 5 mm or ¼ inch discs, or thinner.

Dehydrate them in the oven at 250°F / 100°C fan oven / 120°C for 2-3 hours. The banana slices are done when they have dried out and are crispy.

Leave the banana chips to cool down completely before serving them.

    💭 Top tips

Here are my best tips for perfect oven baked banana slices:

    • Be patient as the banana slices bake. Don’t be tempted to increase the temperature of the oven, as this can cause the bananas to burn.
    • I like to make my banana chips plain, but you can try to add some seasoning such as cinnamon if you wish.
    • The banana chips will naturally brown as they dry out. If you want the banana slices to be more yellow, you can coat them in a thin layer of lemon juice before you bake them.

    🥗 Serving suggestions

Serve banana slices as a healthy snack and alternative to potato chips. You can also add it to granola or trailmix, or use it as a topping for oatmeal or smoothie bowls.

    🍲 Leftovers

Dried banana chips can be stored in an airtight container for several weeks. If you underbake them so they still are slightly soft, they should be consumed within a day.
