My family goes through a lot of ice cream in the summer, but making it myself always felt overwhelming. Traditional ice cream makers usually involve manual churning, a bulky freezer, and several time-consuming steps - none of which fit into my busy schedule.

So when I first heard about the Ninja Creami, I was intrigued. It almost sounded too good to be true: could it really turn just about anything into ice cream? After a few weeks of testing, I’m convinced; this might just be the best appliance in my kitchen.

    Why you'll love it

    • Quick and easy; only 2 ingredients needed
    • A delicious, unique flavor you won’t find in stores
    • Light, refreshing, and perfect for warm days
    • Made with pantry staples you can keep on hand for last-minute ice cream cravings
    • One of my absolute favorite Ninja Creami recipes!

    Ingredients

This easy recipe only has 2 ingredients:

Tinned pineapple chunks: You will need the entire tin, both the fruit chunks and the liquid.

Tinned sweetened condensed milk: Any brand will do. Condensed milk turns this from a sorbet to an ice cream, it adds a lovely creamy flavor and also adds even more sweetness.

    Instructions

You can find full instructions + ingredient measurements in the recipe card at the bottom of this page

For this recipe, you will have to use one of my favorite kitchen appliances: the Ninja Creami.

Step 1: Add both ingredients to the Creami tub. Place it in the freezer, and wait until it has frozen solid. This typically takes at least 12 hours.

Step 2: Remove the tub from the freezer. Leave it out at room temperature for about 5 minutes before you add it to the Ninja Creami. This gives the ice cream a better consistency.

Step 3: Place the tub into the Creami. Select the "Full Tub" setting, and "Light Ice Cream". Allow the programme to finish, and then select "Re-Spin".

Step 4: Remove the tub from the appliance, and enjoy!

    Serving suggestions

Serve your ice cream immediately before it has a chance to melt. I love to serve mine in a waffle cone, but you can simply scoop it into a bowl and enjoy, or even serve it with a warm dessert.

Top with sprinkles or dessert sauces if you wish - I think anything caramel-flavored would pair amazingly with pineapple!

    Variations

Other tinned fruit: You can actually replace the pineapple in this recipe with any other tinned fruit. Try tinned peaches or oranges for example!

Vegan / dairy free: Use vegan condensed milk for an allergy-friendly alternative.

    Equipment

The star of this show is the Ninja Creami. It's a very unique ice cream machine, but unlike other ice cream machines on the market, it takes up a whole less space in your freezer, and makes the most deliciously creamy ice cream without needing to add double cream and sugar.

If you don't have a Ninja Creami, you could try to make this in a very high quality blender, although the texture might come out slightly differently.

    Storage

Premade ice cream mixture can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months. If you finish making the ice cream, you can also re-freeze any leftovers for later (on the off-chance that you don't want to eat the entire tub in one sitting!). Before you refreeze it, make sure that you scrape down the sides of the tub and smooth out the top evenly, so that the mixture sets correctly.
