Pork chops are absolutely fantastic when cooked in the air fryer. An air fryer is a kitchen appliance which uses air pressure to cook food. It gives the food a fried-like texture, without using any oil or grease.
The air fryer is a quick and easy way to prepare pork chops, and no grease is required! Make sure also check out our complete air fryer archive for more recipe inspiration.
🥘 Ingredients
All you need to cook pork chops in the air fryer, is just pork chops and an air fryer.
You also want to use some sort of seasoning, marinade, glaze or sauce with the pork chops. You can choose exactly which seasoning to use, but I suggest making a sweet honey BBQ glaze. For this you will need BBQ sauce, honey, garlic powder, celery salt and paprika powder.
🔪 Instructions
First, season the pork chops.
Use your favorite seasoning, or combine the honey BBQ glaze ingredients in a bowl.
Coat the pork chops on both sides with the glaze. If possible, you can leave the pork chops to marinade in the sauce for up to 8 hours.
Preheat the air fryer to 200°C / 395°F. Add the pork chops, and make sure to leave some space between each chop. If you have a smaller air fryer, you might have to fry them in several batches.
Air fry the pork chops until they start to turn golden, then flip and cook on the other side. They are done when they have reached an internal temperature of 145°F/63°C. Depending on the size of the pork chops, this usually takes 8-12 minutes.
🐖 Pork chops
You can use any type of pork chops for this recipe. Keep in mind that certain things might impact the cooking time or amount of seasoning required.
In general, larger, thicker, bone-in pork chops will take longer to cook through compared to thin boneless pork chop fillets. As they are larger, they also often require more seasoning or glaze to coat completely.
Pork has to be completely cooked through to be considered safe to eat. You should remove the pork chops from th air fryer when the middle part of the pork chops has reached 145°F/63°C. Use a meat thermometer to check the temperature.
Also, be careful not to overcook the pork, as this causes the meat to dry out.
💭 Top tips
Here's my best advice on how to make perfect air fryer pork chops:
- Cooking them for just the right amount of time is key. Use a meat thermometer to be sure, as the cooking time will vary depending on what air fryer you use or how thick the pork chops are.
- Don't forget the seasoning! Use any glaze, spices or sauces that you like - at least salt and pepper. If possible, leave the meat to marinate in the seasoning for a while before cooking.
- I prefer to use boneless pork loin steks, but any pork chops will work.
🧂 Seasoning
I typically cook mine either with seasoning, or a glaze. You can add these based on personal preferences. Here are some options:
Cilantro lime pork chops: Marinate the pork chops with lime juice and fresh cilantro.
Sweet BBQ pork chops: Combine celery salt, BBQ sauce, honey, garlic powder and paprika to a glaze.
Breaded pork chops: Coat the pork chops with flour, egg and breadcrumbs.
Buffalo pork chops: Coat the chops in buffalo sauce.
🥗 Serving suggestions
Pork chops are really versatile, and you should choose side dishes based on how you season them. I like to serve air fryer pork chops with roasted carrots, roasted green beans, stewed kale, potato wedges, kale salad, mashed potatoes or roasted radishes.
You can also serve them with a simple side salad, or dice the pork chops and add them to a stir fry or fajitas.
🍲 Leftovers
Leftover pork chops can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 to 4 days. You can also safely freeze them for up to 3 months.
Reheat chilled or frozen pork chops, and serve them hot. You can also repurpose leftover air fryer porkchops in other dishes, such as carnitas.

📋 Frequently asked questions
Is this recipe allergy friendly? - You can make this recipe suit your dietary requirements by choosing suitable seasoning.
Can I use frozen pork chops? - Absolutely! You can technically air fry frozen pork chops, but I recommend thawing them first so you can add some seasoning or a marinade. If you have frozen seasoned pork chops, you can simply place them in the air fryer basket. Keep in mind that the cooking time will be longer if you use frozen meat.
