I have been using my air fryer a lot lately to make quick and easy snacks. It turns out almost anything tastes better when it's breaded and air fried. From meat to vegetables and, as it turns out, pickles!
The air fryer allows you to make food that tastes as if it was deep fried, but you don't have to add any oil. Instead, the air fryer uses air pressure to perfectly cook oil free fried pickles. It's also more energy efficient and faster than roasting food in the oven.

🥘 Ingredients
To make air fryer pickles, you will need pickles, egg, breadcrumbs, and all purpose flour.
I like to use whole pickles sliced lengthways, but you can also use pickles that are sliced into coins.
🧂 Seasoning
Although these pickles are amazing served as is, you can also add any seasoning you like. Spices and herbs and be added to the flour before you coat the pickles. Try any of these flavor combinations:
- Garlic powder + paprika powder
- Dry mustard + onion powder
- Peri peri seasoning blend
- White cheddar powder
🔪 How to make the best air fryer pickles
Slice the pickles in halves or quarters lengthwise. This makes them look kinda like pickle fries! Whisk the egg together in a bowl. Add the flour to a second bowl, and breadcrumbs to a third. Then, preheat your air fryer to 200°C/395°F and get ready to coat the pickles in breading one by one.
First, coat the pickle in flour.
Then, add it to the whisked egg, and coat it completely.
Finally, add it to the breadcrumbs and try to coat it as much as possible. Repeat with all the pickles until they are competely coated.
Add the pickles in a single layer, and be careful to leave some space between each pickle fry.
If your air fryer is small, you might have to do the cooking process in batches. Air fry for 3-4 minutes, then flip and fry on the other side until the breading is golden and crunchy, about 3-5 minutes.
💭 Top tips
Here's my best tips to get these air fried pickles PERFECT:
- Your air fryer might fry the pickles in more or less time than suggested. Make sure to check them after a few minutes. They are done as soon as the breadcrumbs are crispy and golden.
- Make sure to serve them with a good dip. The dip is half the dish! Use one you like, such as honey mustard, ranch, BBQ sauce or sweet chili sauce.
🥗 Serving suggestions
These air fryer pickles are perfect to serve as a quick and easy snack. You can also serve it as a part of a potluck, buffet or picnic table. Serve pickles with your favorite mains, such as grilled meat, lemon chicken, pork chops or sheet pan sausage and veggies.
If you serve them as a snack, you should definitely add a dip on the side. Use any dip that you like, such as healthy homemade ranch, BBQ sauce, sweet chili sauce, honey mustard or garlic and herb dip.
🍲 Leftovers
Leftover breaded pickles can be stored in an airtight container for up to a day. The breading tends to soften over time, so I highly recommend enjoying these immediately after preparing them.
