Ranch is one of my favorite dips, and this has become my preferred method of making it. It's such a quick and easy recipe, and the result is a creamy ranch that can be used as a dip or dressing.
🥘 Ingredients
To make homemade ranch dip, you will need Greek yogurt, dried dill, parsley and chives, onion powder and garlic powder.
You will also need lemon juice. Either squeeze the juice from ¼ lemon, or use 1 teaspoon storebought lemon juice.
🔪 Instructions
Add Greek yogurt and all the seasoning to a bowl. Stir to combine. Then, add lemon juice and mix.
Add 1 tablespoon of water to give the dip a thinner consistency. If you wish to make it even thinner, to use as a salad dressing, add water one tablespoon at a time until you have reached the consistency you like.
🧂 Seasoning
The seasoning used in ranch dressing is dill, parsley, chives, onion powder and garlic powder.
You can use finely chopped fresh versions of the herbs if you have them available. I use dried herbs for ease.
💡 TIP! If you want to use a ranch seasoning packet, you can simply combine this with Greek yogurt and lemon juice for a quick and healthy ranch dip.
💭 Top tips
- Make a big batch, and use this homemade ranch dressing for meals through the week.
- Add water slowly until you reach your desired consistency. If you want to use the ranch as a salad dressing, you will probably have to add 3-4 tablespoon water to the amount listed.
🥗 Side dishes
Ranch is usually served either as a dip or as a dressing, but it has so many potential uses!
Serve ranch as a dip for broccoli cheese balls, vegetables, chicken wings, or other finger foods.
Or, use it as a dressing on pasta salad or a leafy green salad.
You can even serve it as a sauce on top of tacos, casseroles, on pizza or use it as a cooking sauce for chicken.
🍲 Leftovers
Store ranch dip in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Leftovers can be used as dip or dressing for future dishes.
You can technically freeze Greek yogurt ranch dressing as well, however this might slightly alter the texture of the dip after thawing it.
👪 Serving size
One serving of this recipe makes approximately half of one cup of healthy ranch sauce. This is usually enough to serve multiple people as a dipping sauce or salad dressing.
The recipe is very easy to multiply, and can be adjusted to make more servings when needed, like making a big batch for game day or a potluck.
🧾 Dietary requirements
This dip is nut free, gluten free, soy free and egg free.
If you wish for it to also be dairy free you will need to use a plantbased Greek yogurt alternative.
