I am a big fan of roasted or dried fruits as a sweet snack or light dessert. Oranges are naturally sweet, and when they are roasted the natural sugars in the fruit will caramelize with the honey. It's a healthy treat that can be enjoyed as is, or served with ice cream or custard.

    🥘 Ingredients

This simple recipe only requires fresh oranges, cinnamon and honey.

You will also need an air fryer! Oranges can be roasted in an oven as well, but the air fryer method is a lot quicker and easier.

🔪 How to make air fryer oranges

Slice oranges in half. Preheat an air fryer to 200°C / 395°F. Place the oranges in the hot air fryer, and drizzle some cinnamon and honey on top.

Air fry the oranges until they are golden on top, about 3-6 minutes. Serve them immediately while they are still warm.

    💭 Top tips

This recipe is incredibly easy, and it's almost impossible to get it wrong. In any case, here's my best expert advice on how to make the perfect roasted oranges:

    • The oranges cook in only a few minutes. Don't forget about them, as they can burn quickly.
    • The cinnamon flavor will not be as strong as you think compared with the orange. Add a generous amount.
    • We add a bit of honey to add some sweetness. This also gives the top of the oranges a sweet, sticky glaze and keeps them from drying out. Use maple syrup or agave syrup for a vegan version!

    🥗 Serving roasted oranges

These sweet cinnamon oranges can be served as they are as a delicious dessert or treat. I love to serve them with some custard or vanilla ice cream on the side.

You can also dice them and add them to other dishes such as fruit salads or a hot orange drink.

    🍲 Leftovers

Roasted oranges taste the best if served immediately. If you happen to have any leftovers, they can be stored in the fridge for up to a day and reheated later.

Alternatively, you can dice up any leftover oranges and add them to any fruit salad.

Very nice flavor combo, but VERY MESSY to eat, even though I pre-sectioned it like a grapefruit. I think I might peel the whole orange first, coat it lightly with syrup and cinnamon, then bake.
