I absolutely love a good fruit based salad (have you checked out my strawberry salad with chicken yet?). This strawberry pineapple salsa is perfect as a light snack or side dish. It's fruity with a little kick from the onion, lime and chili.
If you're looking for a refreshing side dish for your garden party or grill buffet, this is it! The lovely colors and flavors are perfect for summer, and this dish goes with most entrees.
🥘 Ingredients
To make this delicious pineapple and strawberry salsa, you will need fresh pineapple and strawberries, lime juice, cilantro, red onion and jalapenos.
You can add or omit ingredients as you wish. I highly recommend using fresh in-season ingredients to achieve the best results.

Making a salad is very straight forward. As no cooking is required, this takes less than 5 minutes!
Dice the strawberries and pineapple in small pieces, and place them in a bowl. Finely chop the red onion, cilantro and jalapeno, and add these to the fruit. Squeeze the juice from half a lime over the top.
Stir to combine all the ingredients evenly. Serve the strawberry pineapple salsa immediately, or store it in a refrigerator until you're ready to serve it.
💭 Top tips
Although this salad is simple and easy, there are still some things you can do that will make it extra nice. Here are my top tips to succeed with this recipe:
- Use fresh ingredients for the best flavors. Salads are all about using quality produce!
- The lime juice will keep the salsa fresh. I recommend not omitting it, especially if you plan on storing the salsa a few hours before serving.
🥗 Serving suggestions
Here are my favorite ways to enjoy this amazing strawberry pineapple salad:
As a snack: Enjoy it as is, or scoop it up with tortilla chips!
As a side salad: Pineapple strawberry salsa is a refreshing and light side salad. Serve it with balsamic maple glazed salmon, slow cooker Cajun chicken or Moroccan roasted turkey drumstick.
With tacos: Replace your typical pico de gallo in your favorite tacos. Try these with lime and chili shrimp tacos or pork carnitas.
📖 Variations
Although this recipe is fantastic just the way it is, you can definitely change it up to suit your preferences. Here are some of my favorite variations:
Spicy: Add more diced chili or jalapenos for a spicier version.
More filling: If you want a filling salsa to complete a meal, try adding some black beans or chickpeas to the dish.
Omit an ingredient: If you happen to not like one of the ingredients, you can easily omit it without having to make any substitutions.
Add more fruits: Try adding kiwi, grapes or watermelon if you want to add more fruit. This dish is great to increase your daily fruit intake!
🍲 Leftovers
You can store leftover strawberry pineapple salsa in a refrigerator for up to 3 days. Keep in mind that fruit tends to taste the best when it's fresh.
Keep the leftovers in an airtight container. This dish is not suitable for freezing.
