This healthy balsamic maple glazed salmon is made in only 15 minutes, and makes a filling, wholesome and easy weeknight dinner.
I absolutely love salmon. It tastes absolutely delicious, it's full of healthy fats, and it's so quick and easy to make. I have previously shared some of my other favorite salmon recipes. My salmon and creme fraiche pasta is one of the most popular recipes I have ever published. This is a lean and basic version, where we simply glaze salmon fillets to add some flavor, then bake them in the oven. I love the simplicity of this recipe, and it's definitely one of those weeknight staples I make over and over again.

How to cook salmon in the oven
Preheat the oven to 210°C / 200°C fan oven / 410°F. Combine balsamic vinegar and maple syrup in a small bowl. Add the glaze to the salmon, along with some pepper. I like to use a pastry brush to make sure that the glaze properly covers the salmon, and that it doesn't all drip off. Insert the salmon in the oven on a baking tray, and bake for 10-15 minutes until you can flake it easily with a fork. Remove it from the oven and serve.
Choosing a perfect side for balsamic maple glazed salmon
Salmon has such a versatile flavor, and you can match it with a variety of side dishes. I love a good vegetable side. Oven roasted green beans are a great classic. Honey sriracha brussels sprouts would also be a good, spicy, pairing. If you're more into salads, you could try Mediterranean chickpea salad, Greek pasta salad or Orzo salad.
Salmon is also great with some nice bread, rice or pasta.
My best tips for the best result
Here is some of my best advice to make this dinner a success - every time!
- If you have time, you could add the glaze to the salmon and leave it to marinate for up to an hour. This will allow the flavors to set a little bit better. I usually skip this step and just make it straight away - which also tastes really nice. If you want it perfect though, I recommend leaving it in marinade first.
- Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days, or frozen for up to 4 to 6 months. You can freeze leftovers, thaw them and add to salads, sandwiches or other dishes.
- I prefer to use boneless fillets, but bone-in ones work too.
- If using frozen salmon fillets, make sure to thaw them thoroughly before cooking.
