This easy mango and banana smoothie is one of my favorites. I have made loads of delicious smoothie recipes with bananas, but there's something about the combination of bananas and mango that just works so well.

It's a great yellow smoothie for summer, and it's packed with nutrients and flavor. By using frozen fruit, the smoothie will be extra cold and refreshing.

Kids and adults will love this easy mango banana shake, and it's really easy to customize to suit your dietary requirements or personal preferences.

    Why you'll love it

    • Easy to make
    • Only 3 ingredients needed
    • Refreshing and healthy smoothie
    • A great way to enjoy fruit
    • Deliciously creamy
    • Kids love it

    Ingredients

Milk: Use your favorite milk. Skim milk, oat milk, almond milk and soy milk are all excellent options.

Frozen mango: Frozen diced mango will make the smoothie extra cold. You can also use fresh fruit if that's all you have.

Bananas: Make sure that they are really ripe, ideally with a few brown spots.

    Instructions

You can find full instructions + ingredient measurements in the recipe card at the bottom of this page

One: Add the ingredient to a blender.

Two: Blend until smooth, and serve immediately.

    Top tips

    • Use frozen bananas or mango to keep the beverage really cold.
    • Serve the smoothie immediately.
    • Change it up by adding any fruit or berries that you like.
    • If you don't have a blender, you can try using an immersion blender or food processor instead.
    • Add less milk to make the smoothie extra thick, like a smoothie bowl.

    Serving suggestions

I love to serve smoothies as a quick and light breakfast, but this beverage can also be enjoyed with any meal through the day. Smoothies are particularly refreshing in the summer!

If you want to pair your smoothie with a healthy snack, I highly recommend Date Energy Balls or Dried Blueberries.

    Variations

Different milk: You can make this recipe with any milk that you like. Try coconut milk or coconut water for a refreshing tropical drink, or almond milk, oat milk, skim milk or soy milk. Different types of milk will give the smoothie a slightly different flavor, so you can test a few to decide which one you like more.

Other ingredients: Try adding strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, peaches, blueberries or raspberries. These will all add complimentary flavors to the smoothie.

Banana mango smoothie bowl: Only use ¼ cup milk, and use frozen bananas and frozen mango to make a super thick smoothie bowl.

    Leftovers

This smoothie is best served immediately. You can store any leftovers in a refrigerator for up to one day, however keep in mind that as the temperature of the smoothie increases, the texture will be slightly thinner.

Most leftover smoothies will have a different texture even after a few hours. I recommend that you shake the smoothie before serving it, to make sure that the flavors are evenly incorporated. Optionally, serve over ice cubes.

    Frequently asked questions

What fruit goes well with mango?

Mango goes well with pretty much any fruit. Try it with tropical fruit like coconut or pineapple, bananas or peaches.

    Is banana mango smoothie healthy?

Absolutely. A smoothie with bananas and mango is a healthy beverage, or an excellent light meal.

Why do you use frozen fruit in smoothies?

Many smoothie recipes include frozen fruit. Frozen fruit has no nutritional benefits, but it can improve the texture of the smoothie by making it thicker and colder.
