Is this dish suitable for my diet? – That depends. This dessert is suitable for slimming world and weight watchers, along with many other diets. It is also vegetarian, and can be made vegan by using maple syrup, date syrup or agave syrup in place of the honey.
How can bananas caramelize without sugar? – These baked bananas are made with no added sugar. Instead, the natural sugars in the honey and banans will provide enough caramelization.
Do I need to keep the banana peels on? – I would highly recommend it. Baked bananas tend to be very mushy. Baking them in their peels will help them keep their shape, and the banana can then be scooped out to eat.
Leftovers
Leftover oven baked bananas can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Serve them cold or reheat them before serving.
I love to prepare several and use them in my morning oatmeals for a tasty sweet treat.
