Cut the apples in half down the middle, and scoop out the core. Sprinkle some cinnamon, and fill the apples with raisins and roughly chopped walnuts. Finally, drizzle over some honey. Estimate one half apple per serving.
Place the filled apples in an air fryer with a little space in between each of them. Air fry at 350° F or 180° C for 15-20 minutes, or until the apples have softened enough to easily pierce with a fork.
Make sure to check the apples towards the end of the cooking time, as your air fryer might cook faster or slower than suggested.
The apples are best served immediately while they are still warm.
Top tips
Here are my top tips to get this recipe perfect:
- Your air fryer might cook faster or slower than mine. Check it occasionally to ensure that the apples and raisins don’t burn. The apples are ready to eat when they are soft enough to pierce with a fork.
- Replace the filling with anything you like. You can substitute oats or marzipan for the raisins and walnuts.
- If you don’t add enough honey, or overcook the dish, the raisins could burn. If this happens, you can save the dish by replacing them with uncooked raisins before serving.
Leftovers
You can store leftover baked apples in an airtight container in a refrigerator for up to 3 days. Serve them cold, or reheat them in a microwave for a few minutes until they are warm throughout.
The apples are not suitable for freezing, and you should avoid storing them at room temperature for extended periods of time.
