Ingredients

  • 4 pork loin steaks or medallions
  • 1 apple
  • 300 ml creme fraiche
  • 2 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 3 tablespoon applesauce

Instructions

  • Melt the butter in a pan or skillet on medium heat.
  • Season the pork chops with salt and pepper on both sides, and add them to the pan.
  • Remove the core from the apple, and slice it thinly. Add the slices to the pan a few minutes after the pork chops.
  • Cook the pork chops until they have completely cooked through, about 3-5 minutes on each side. Watch the apple slices, and move them around in the pan to allow them all to cook without getting burned.
  • After the pork chops are done, remove them from the pan and set them aside. Add the creme fraiche, applesauce and apple cider vinegar to the pan with the apples. Stir to combine to a creamy sauce.
  • Add salt and pepper to taste, then add the pork chops on top of the sauce. Ready to serve!

Notes

Here is all my best tips to get this recipe right:
  • Keep an eye on the apple slices as they cook. Move them around to prevent them from burning; they cook faster than the pork!
  • If you only have a small frying pan or skillet, you might have to cook the pork chops in batches. Avoid overcrowding the pan to achieve the best results.
Is this recipe allergy friendly? – It is egg free, nut free, gluten free and soy free.
Can I make this without apples / apple cider vinegar / applesauce? – Yes. All these ingredients are added to improve flavor, and can be omitted if you don’t like them.

Leftovers

Store leftover pork with apple cream sauce in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat the dish before serving.
This dish is also safe for freezing, and can be frozen for up to 3 months. Keep in mind that the creamy sauce can slightly change in texture after thawing. Thaw leftover frozen pork chops in the fridge overnight, then reheat until hot throughout.
