Notes

Can I use other types of meat? – Absolutely. Use ground turkey, chicken, lamb or pork if you prefer. You can even use ground up tofu or shredded chicken.
Can I add other vegetables to this dish? Yes. Add any finely chopped, sliced or shredded vegetables. You can also use any canned or frozen veggies.
Is this recipe suitable for my diet? – Probably. This is perfect for low carb, keto, paleo, whole30, weight watchers or slimming world diets.

Leftovers

You can store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days. Leftover ground beef and cabbage skillet is also suitable for freezing for up to 3 months.
Thaw frozen ground beef and cabbage skillet in the fridge overnight, then reheat it in the microwave or on the stovetop before using it.

Top tips

Here are my best tips for the perfect results:
  • Feel free to add more or different seasoning to suit your taste. You can add some cajun seasoning, taco seasoning or Italian seasoning to change things up!
  • This recipe is perfect for using up leftover veggies or cooked meats. Anything can be thrown into the skillet.
  • Make sure to grate or very finely slice the cabbage. If you cut it too thick it will take longer to cook.
  • If you use low quality diced tomatoes, you might find that the skillet tastes slightly acidic. If this happens, you can add a pinch of sugar or sweetener to balence the flavors.
