    🥘 Ingredients

This recipe only requires 1 ingredient: apples! You can use any type of ripe apple. I find that the apple chips are best if you use a crunchy apple.

If you wish, you can also add seasoning to the apple slices before baking. Although they are amazing plain, you can try adding a sprinkle of cinnamon or gingerbread seasoning.

    🔪 Instructions

First, you have to cut the apples into thin slices. The thinner you cut them, the faster they dry out in the oven. Aim to cut them in 5 mm or ¼ inch discs. Remove any seeds, and place the apple slices on a baking sheet covered baking tray. Make sure to place them side by side, and not to overcrowd the tray.

Dehydrate them in the oven at 250°F / 100°C fan oven / 120°C for 2-3 hours. The apple slices are done when they have shrunk slightly and are dry and crispy.

Leave the dried apple chips to cool down completely, and enjoy!

    💭 Top tips

Here are my best tips for perfect apple chips:

    • Be patient as the apple slices bake. Don’t be tempted to increase the temperature of the oven, as this can cause the apples to burn.
    • The thinner you cut the slices, the faster they will bake. Try to cut all slices to the same size.

    🥗 Serving suggestions

Apple chips can be enjoyed as a crunchy, crispy snack, or in other dishes where you would use dried fruit. You can also try serving it on apple pie oatmeal, in granola or even in a fall style salad.
